LEADING A CHILD TO CHRIST

The Why

Why Lead Children to Christ?

  1. 1.God commands it (Matthew 28:19, 20; Mark 16:15; Matthew 18:14; 19:14)

  2. 2.Children need it just as much as anybody.

The Bible teaches that children are sinners (Romans 5:12; 3:23; Psalm 51:5; 58:3)

  1. Unless he receives Christ, he will spend eternity in Hell

  2. If we were able to really picture a child burning in Hell, it would motivate us to reach them all for Christ

The How

The Foundation

  1. 1.The Bible is the Word of God—“God’s Word says…”

(2 Timothy 3:15, 16; 2 Peter 1:20, 21; Romans 10:17)

  1. 2.God is

  2. a.The Creator—He made everything—He made YOU!

(Acts 17:22-24; John 1:3; Genesis 1:1, 26, 27)

  1. b.Love—He loves YOU and me!

(John 3:16; 1 John 4:16, 19; Jeremiah 31:3; Romans 5:8)

  1. c.Holy—He has never sinned—He is just—He is perfect

(1 John 1:5; Acts 3:14; Leviticus 19:2)

  1. 3.Man is

  2. a.Responsible for his actions

  3. b.A sinner by nature—You and I are born with a “want to do wrong” life.  You and I, by nature, think, say, and do the wrong things.

  4. i.Sin is disobedience to God (1 John 3:4; Acts 7:51-53; Psalm 51:4)

  5. ii.Sin has a punishment (Acts 17:31; John 3:36; Romans 6:23)

  6. iii.Sin separates us from God—You cannot go to Heaven with sin (Isaiah 59:2)

  7. c.Not able to save himself—You cannot be good enough to get to Heaven (Titus 3:5; Ephesians 2:8, 9; Acts 4:12)

The Gospel

The Gospel is God’s message that proclaims the good news of Jesus Christ.  His death, burial, and resurrection are all covered in the Gospel.

  1. 1.The origin of the Gospel
The Gospel is provided by salvation through Jesus Christ, God’s perfect and sinless son.  (Ephesians 2:4, 8; John 3:16; Acts 3:26; Titus 3:5)

  2. 2.Jesus Christ

  3. a.He is the Son of God (Acts 9:20; Romans 1:1-4)

  4. b.He is perfect (Galatians 4:4; Hebrews 4:15)

  5. 3.The ministry of Jesus Christ

  6. a.The death--Jesus willingly died on the cross, giving His life’s blood to pay for YOUR sin (1 Corinthians 15:1-4; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 9:14, 22b)

  7. b.The resurrection—Jesus did not stay dead.  He rose from the dead and is alive today.  (Acts 2:32; Romans 4:24, 25)

  8. 4.The salvation of Jesus Christ
Being saved from Hell and being able to obtain other blessing in life, is receive through faith in Jesus Christ.  (Acts 16:31; Acts 4:12; Ephesians 1:3; John 3:16; Romans 3:22)

The Invitation

  1. 1.The invitation to come to Christ—The Lord Jesus must be received personally for salvation.  He is God’s gift to you.  (Acts 16:31; John 6:37; 7:37; Revelation 22:17; Ephesians 2:8, 9; John 3:16)

  2. 2.Our responsibility

  3. a.To recognize and agree with what God has said about man’s sinful condition, and as a result, see himself a lost sinner—admit you are a sinner.  (1John 3:4; Romans 1:18; John 16:8-11)

  4. b.To be willing in obedience to the Holy Spirit’s prompting, to turn from sin.  You must believe with all your heart that Jesus alone can save you from your Hell, forgive your sin, and take you to Heaven when you die.  (Acts 17:30; 1 Thessalonians 1:9; Acts 3:19)

  5. c.To trust, by faith, the Lord Jesus Christ and what He did for you on the cross.  (Acts 16:31; John 3:36; John 1:12; Romans 5:1)
